Home to Cunningham Falls State Park where you will see the highest cascading waterfall in the state of Maryland along with a lake for paddling & a lake for swimming surrounded by sand.

Catoctin Mountain Park (Home to Camp David) offers beginner to expert hiking trails. Three Covered Bridges, Historic Main Street where you can take a walk and explore our Thurmont Trolley Trail that once served Thurmont’s Trolley transportation system. Thurmont is also considered a cycling haven by cycle enthusiasts.

Thurmont is a Designated Maryland Main Street Community and a nationally accredited Main Street Community rich with history & outdoor recreation. Fifteen minutes south of Gettysburg & fifty minutes from Baltimore & DC, Thurmont was voted in the Top 10 towns to live in Maryland in 2019 & has been in the top 10 safest cities in the state of Maryland for the last six years.
